Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter (salted, for richness)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (adds moisture and depth)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for sweetness)
  • 1 large egg (binds ingredients)
  • 1 tsp baking soda (leavening agent)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (enhances flavor)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for warmth)
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (structure)
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (for sweetness and texture)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by creaming the softened butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg and vanilla extract, blending until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just incorporated.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop the dough in rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each scoop.
  • Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden around the edges and soft in the center.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze. Reheat for a few seconds in the microwave for freshness.
