Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cream the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and light or dark brown sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add the whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until fully incorporated.
  • In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, kosher salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a rubber spatula until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped Kit Kats and dark chocolate chunks until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Drop portions of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them well apart.
  • Sprinkle additional chopped Kit Kat pieces on top if desired.
  • Bake cookies until they are set around the edges but soft in the center.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
