Preparation

  • Crack in the large egg and whisk until well blended.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.

Cooking

  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow brownies to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • If using, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top while warm.
