Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with both the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Mix until the mixture is creamy and smooth.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased or parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing a few inches apart.
  • Bake until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly soft, about 10 minutes.
  • Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is softened, use high-quality chocolate chips, and don’t skip the resting time after baking. You may add nuts or oatmeal for extra texture.
